Find + Follow Friday: Officially on Hiatus.

I first wanted to thank everyone who has been participating in the hops so diligently. You rock. Since I started the hop, every week I'd try to work harder and harder to reach out to new bloggers, and touch base with people who linked up, to grow the hop for you awesome people that would link up every week. I firmly believe that I owed you that, as a host, for you taking the time to stop by and support my hop.

Hands down, the best part of the hop was meeting new bloggers, (and finding some awesome friends and support systems in the process,) and it's always made all the time, care, and money I put into the hops worth the while. It's also been equally awesome to watch/help my co-hosts' blogs grow from the experience as well, but lately, I haven't been able to give the hops the attention that they deserve, and that I feel I owe to everyone joining.

So, for now at least, we are saying goodbye to the hop. I have loved every minute of hosting, and hope that I can find the time, in the future, to bring the hop back and give it the TLC it deserves. It's truly been a pleasure getting to know each and every one of my co-hosts, and some of the regulars that link up with us. And thank you. Thank you to everyone who has ever linked up with us.

New Fave: Baltic Amber Teething Necklaces

We've seen these everywhere lately and just had to give them a try!

We head out on our first family flight this weekend, and were biting our nails, waiting in anticipation to see if it would make it in time-- handmade, all the way from Lithuania. Relieved was an understatement.

I've heard some of the hubbub about these adorable little soothers, and wanted to research them a little further before I made the purchase; I'm no amber expert, but here's what I found out:

  • Most important: these are NOT FOR CHEWING. The necklaces and bracelets are strictly for wearing; when warmed by the skin, they then release the succinic acid.
  • Baltic amber has the most succinic acid.
  • There is no difference in effectiveness between the different shades of amber.
  • Raw amber has extra succinic acid in it than polished, and is therefore considered maximum strength amber.
  • Recommended for: reducing inflammation, controlling drooling, gas, colic, chronic pain relief, GERD, and is said to be able to even help bolster mental clarity and mood balance.

We've only had this little beauty for about a week, and we've both already seen a noticeable difference in our girl's level of fuss-face. It should be noted, however, that as a natural remedy, baltic amber will not/cannot always alleviate every symptom of teething. Given the choice though, I'll always try the natural remedy over a chemical/artificial one first, and so far, so good. It does take a little bit of the art of distraction to get it on her at this age, but we haven't had too many problems with her yanking on it, thus far. Knock on wood.

Our necklace is handmade, (from Etsy,) is raw baltic amber, and features a screw clasp for easy on/easy off. The string is knotted between each individual bead for safety, so if/when broken, the beads won't scatter and become a massive choking hazard; that being said, it's still only recommended to be worn by little ones when supervised, and never while sleeping or swimming. Different sites have different age recommendations.

Our view: no medicine. They're cute. They're definitely affordable. They've helped calm a considerable amount of fuss-face-ness. What's not to like?

If you've tried one, how did it work for you?
